Yin Yoga for Better Sleep

Hey Yogis,

This week's post is short because I'm sharing my first video class with you! Find the sequence numbered below with a list of benefits. If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, this is a wonderful practice to do before bed. Dress comfortably, dim the lights, and grab a blanket. Also, with this being my first go at video, there are some snags. My cat makes an appearance and the sound / image quality aren't the greatest. These videos will become more polished with time and practice. As always, I appreciate your feedback!

Yin Yoga for Better Sleep

  1. Diaphragmatic Breathing - activates parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest response) 
  2. Supine Twist - hydrates the vertebral discs, massages the internal organs
  3. Seated Neck Stretch - releases tension in the neck, shoulders, and jaw
  4. Prone Blanket Under Belly - relieves tension in the abdomen, calming, aids in digestion
  5. Savasana - calms the brain, relaxes the body, can lower blood pressure
