25 Hour Yin Immersion

Join Shannon Stephens for a Yin Immersion at St. Francis of the Woods in Coyle, Oklahoma. This 25-hour immersion is designed for both the practitioner and teacher. Learn basic and more complex principles of the yin practice from both an Eastern and Western perspective. In this training, you will learn:

  • The history of Yin yoga
  • Yin/Yang theory
  • Yin yoga principles and concepts
  • Traditional Yin postures vs. Yin as an approach to yoga
  • How Yin postures impact our muscles, joints and fascia
  • Physiological benefits of the Yin practice
  • Basic concepts in Traditional Chinese Medicine
  • Five-element theory
  • Meridian line theory
  • The importance of slowing down
  • How to begin and maintain a Yin practice
  • Cueing, theming, class planning, and setting the tone
  • Modifications & adjustments
  • Safety and your students
  • Sample sequences

Retreat includes lodging, manual, and 25 hours of continued education credit through Yoga Alliance. Meals are not included. Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and shared bathrooms. Bring your own yoga mat, blocks, strap, and blanket. To learn more about St. Francis of the Woods click here
